About

SWOP-East is a grassroots educational organization seeking to create a network of advocates from the Internet to the street and all points in between focusing on constructive social change through awareness and advocacy on the human rights issues of sex work.

SWOP-East has five speakers available for local, national and international speaking events and training.

SWOP-East’s community educators have multi-faceted experience in prostitution-related issues.

Speaker Jill Brenneman experienced coerced entry and forced participation (a sexual trafficking victim), advocated for services for sex workers from a radical feminist perspective for four years before dramatically breaking with the movement. She re-positioned herself as an advocate for decriminalization, endorsed and joined the movement for human rights for sex workers, studying harm reduction under the outstanding leadership at Minnesota’s Sexual Violence Center. She is a Certified Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor. Jill’s diverse background both in the sex industry and as an advocate offers unique insights, a nuanced and humanistic perspective.

Amanda Brooks is an author, sex worker and sex worker rights activist with over 10 years of experience and international media exposure.

Jill McCracken is an educator, activist, and researcher. She is an Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg, and her research interests include the rhetoric of marginalized communities, in particular that of sex work/trafficking; public policy; gender studies; reproductive technologies; civic engagement; and communication across the curriculum. She is currently working on an analysis of street sex worker representations and their effects on sex workers and society, which reveals the power of everyday language and its influence on the material conditions of street sex workers’ lives.

Renegade Evolution is a stripper/internet porm performer/cam girl who has been active in sex workers rights since 2006. She has spoken on issues facing sex workers and matters of law regarding the adult entertainment inudstry at various universities and sex worker gatherings.
