“Who We Are”

SWOP-East is a grassroots educational organization seeking to create a network of advocates, from the Internet to the streets, and all points in-between. We focus on constructive social change through awareness and advocacy on the human rights issues of sex work.

SWOP-East’s community educators have multi-faceted experience in a myriad of prostitution-related issues. SWOP-East’s nuanced humanistic point of view brings diverse viewpoints to any audience.

Jill Brenneman has lectured at some of the top universities and institutions in the nation and continues to be a clear and often radical voice in sex work activism.

As a sexual trafficking victim herself, Jill has advocated for sex workers for years with a unique and strong perspective before breaking from the radical feminist anti-trafficking & anti prostitution movement.

She then re-positioned herself as an advocate for decriminalization, joined the movement for human rights for sex workers and studied harm reduction under the outstanding leadership at Minnesota’s Sexual Violence Center.

As a certified sexual assault crisis counselor, Jill’s diverse background both in the sex industry and as an advocate offers unique insights and a bold, refreshing perspective.

Amanda Brooks is an author, sex worker and sex worker rights activist with over 10 years of experience and international media exposure. She has appeared on programs such as The O’Reilly Factor and CNBC’s The Business of High-End Prostitution, to name a few.

In 2006, she started her own publishing company, Golden Girl Press and published two handbooks, specifically geared to the sex worker, entitled Book 1: The Foundation – Basic Mental, Emotional and Physical Considerations in Escort Work and Book 2: Advertising and Marketing – Successfully Creating and Selling Your Image Online.

She travels internationally and speaks extensively on sex work rights as well as offering a fresh take on the dynamics between men, women, sex and money.

Renegade Evolution is a stripper and Internet porn performer who has been active in sex workers rights since 2006.

She has spoken on issues facing sex workers and matters of law regarding the adult entertainment industry at various universities and sex worker gatherings.

Jill McCracken is an educator, activist and researcher. She is also an assistant professor at the University of South Florida. Her research interests include the rhetoric of marginalized communities, in particular, that of sex work/trafficking; public policy; gender studies; reproductive technologies; civic engagement and communication across the curriculum.

She is currently working on a detailed analysis of street sex worker representations and their effects on sex workers and society, which reveals the power of everyday language and its influence on the material conditions of street sex workers’ lives.
